Rihanna Upset Over MTV Canada Story
Rihanna didn’t even attend the 2011 BET Awards but she’s a part of what will undoubtedly be the night’s most talked-about moment.
BET made a major snafu while announcing the winner of the fan-voted Viewer’s Choice Award. A fan chosen to present the award announced Chris Brown as the winner of the award, but it was quickly announced that it was an error and Rihanna was actually the winner for her Drake-assisted chart-topper, “What’s My Name.” Drizzy accepted the award and noted the awkwardness of the moment in his speech. To make matters more awkward, Chris Brown was the rightful winner of the award all along, and, after many rage-filled tweets from fans to the network on Twitter, the show’s host, comedian Kevin Hart, cleared up the mistake on-air.
So how does an awards show make an error so large and embarrassing? Simple. By having humans run it. At least that’s what BET’s Stephen Hill is blaming.
“That BET Awards Viewer’s Choice mix-up was due to human error. And I was the human that made that error,” he said in a tweet, before offering his apologies to “ALL affected.”
RiRi wasn’t win-less last night. She walked away with Best Female R&B artist, while Brown took home three other awards to go along with his Viewer’s Choice trophy.
