Lil Wayne Reaches Out To A Fan In “Dear Anne

Eminem‘s Stan apparently had a friend named Anne who is a major Lil Wayne fan. Weezy reaches out to her to send her condolences on the loss of her friend and let her know how important she is to his success in his “Stan” sequel, “Dear Anne (Stan Pt. 2).”
Where Em’s “Stan” was about a fan exposing the darkness of his life to his favorite artist before doing the unthinkable when it isn’t made immediately clear that someone’s actually reading his notes, Weezy’s “Dear Anne” sort of flips the script, showing Wayne opening up to his No. 1 fan in a long letter about his life and the pressures of being Lil Wayne.
“Dear Anne, my number one fan, by now you probably think that I’m portraying who I’m saying,” he raps over the dark, mellow beat, provided by Swizz Beatz. “And sometimes I wish I wasn’t him, but I am. It’s people like you that make me proud of what I am.”
The Stan connection is made in the last line of the final verse. “I’m sorry about Stan, so I wrote this to say that I’m your number one fan.”
The somber tune could be an instant classic, but, for some reason, it won’t be on Wayne’s forthcoming Tha Carter IV. But you can still listen below:
